Before graduating from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business, Zac Voss, BBA ’00 of Des Moines, already had identified a need to start a distributing company for Red Bull Energy Drink in the state of Iowa. By utilizing skills he had learned in entrepreneurship, finance and marketing classes, Voss wrote a business plan for Voss Distributing and was awarded the exclusive distributorship for Red Bull Energy Drink statewide.
Showing true entrepreneurial spirit, Voss started his distribution business while still in school, delivering cases of Red Bull from his college apartment building. Today, his business is located in Des Moines, has more than 25 full-time employees, and sales continue to grow. Voss Distributing delivers Red Bull throughout the state of Iowa as well as to Rock Island, Illinois and northeastern Missouri.
As a strong supporter of the entrepreneurial initiatives at the University of Iowa, Zac recently contributed financial support to the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory, helping UI students gain access to resources and assistance for starting businesses. Zac also currently serves on the JPEC Alumni Board.
Zac was able to take his idea and turn it into a reality thanks to his business training at the UI. He continues to see the value in supporting other students so that they can continue to make Iowa a powerful business state.
