The saying “families that work together, stay together” has proven true for the Kegler family of Independence, Iowa.
Kegler, Kegler & Arend DDS PC has been a staple in the community of Independence for over sixty years. As a University of Iowa Dental School graduate (DDS 1942), Dr. A.G. Kegler could not have realized the impact and legacy he would have on his hometown. His son, Dr. Dan Kegler, went on to also graduate from the UI’s Dental School program in 1972 and decided to join his father’s practice in 1984. In 2011, Brad Kegler, Dan’s youngest son and Gus’s grandson, also decided to join the family practice.
Dr. Dan Kegler has been practicing dentistry in Independence for over 35 years, but he has also been very active in his community and his profession for just as long. He is currently serving as the President of the Iowa Dental Association and is also the immediate past president of the Iowa Dental Foundation, the charitable arm of the IDA. He serves in numerous other dental and professional organizations including the University of Iowa Alumni Board.
Dr. Brad Kegler also attended dental school at the University of Iowa and graduated with a DDS degree in 2010. Like his father, Brad is also very involved with his community and within his profession. He is a member of the Iowa Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
While Dr. A.G. Kegler passed away in 2000, we think he would agree along with his son and grandson that their UI Dental School education helped them become the knowledgeable and caring professionals that they are today.
And where will you find Dan and Brad on a fall Saturday? Cheering on the Hawkeyes of course! As lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fans, Dr. Dan Kegler proclaims that he “bleeds black and gold!”
These are your Hometown Hawkeyes.
